The “thought” process behind this during the AIDS epidemic was to stop people who are HIV+ and or have AIDS to donate blood. However, instead of excluding people who have the disease they prevent all sexually active gay men. Today, this is absolutely ridiculous, especially when you take into consideration that HIV is spread fastest through heterosexual sex.
